Guardian angels don’t always have wings. Sometimes they have paws, no home of their own, and a bark loud enough to save a life.
In 2013, in the Costa Azul neighborhood of Argentina, a 12-year-old girl was walking alone to her aunt’s house when a man grabbed her and attempted to assault her in a secluded area.
She screamed for help. Nearby, five stray dogs heard her cries and rushed to her defense, attacking the man and giving her the chance to break free.
She ran to a neighbor’s home, where the neighbor immediately called police. Officers arrived and safely reunited her with her parents.
Authorities were never able to locate the attacker, and what became of the five dogs afterward was never reported. But on that morning, five homeless animals with nothing to gain heard a child in danger and didn’t hesitate to act.
They may have been strays with no home of their own, but for one frightened girl, they were guardians when she needed one most.
