For hours, residents in Aydın, Turkey, couldn’t sleep. Somewhere in the darkness near a construction site, a dog was crying out, and no one could figure out where the sound was coming from.
Fearing the worst, locals called in AKUT, Turkey’s search and rescue organization, to investigate. What they found was almost hard to believe.
A dog had become trapped, partially encased in freshly poured concrete at the site.
It’s believed the dog had walked across concrete that hadn’t fully hardened yet, then stumbled into a mound of construction debris.
As the material set around her body, she became completely stuck, unable to move, with no way to free herself.
Rescuers got to work immediately, using a power chisel to carefully break away the concrete surrounding her, being careful not to injure her in the process. The delicate operation took seven long hours from start to finish.
By the end, the frightened and exhausted dog was finally free, with only a few thin layers of concrete still clinging to her fur.
Rescuers gave her an IV drip on the spot to help her recover from the ordeal before she was transferred to a local veterinarian for a full examination.
At first, everyone assumed she was a stray. But according to Turkish outlet Hürriyet, the dog actually had a name, Paris, and a family who had likely been searching for her, worried sick.
After her veterinary check-up confirmed she was in good condition, Paris was reunited with her owner.
What started as hours of desperate barking in the night ended with a family getting their dog back, safe and sound, thanks to rescuers who refused to give up until she was free.
